Southern Institute for Food, Nutrition and Wellness
The purpose of the Southern Institute for Food, Nutrition and Wellness is to bring together teams of faculty, staff and students with a diverse background and education, experienced and stakeholder oriented to work on serious but preventable health problems in our state.
The State’s needs for research, knowledge, and educational programs that address:
- development of healthy foods
- food safety
- access to fresh produce at all times
- health promotion
- disease prevention
The Institute will draw on the strengths of the entire university as it physically co-locates and strategically aligns the diverse competencies and deep capacity of Southern University to address society's major unmet health problems.
